Squeezed some time off yesterday to took a few pictures. Since I wanna try product photography, I brought with me a special piece of equipment - Pokka Milk Tea. Here are some test shots. And since I have a macro lens, I tried to photography the little doggy as well.

I made the overall colour balance towards yellow, I think the warmer colour gives an impression of rich milk tea.

Enjoy!

First post, guess I should set some paces for this blog. Like I've said in About Here (or rather, I implied), creation of this blog is pretty much an impromptu. However, I still placed down a simple structure in place so things can at least be organised.

Category 1: Life
Simple, random, just things about my life. This is the place where I whine and complain. I'm trying to let myself update at least once per day when I'm off duty (or sometimes on duty if I get the chance). This is like a diary.

Category 2: Photography
This is where I'll put one or a few pictures I took recently and do a self-evaluation. This is something I thought I should do to help myself improve in this trade. Any suggestion is welcomed.

Category 3: Gaming
Where I review games that I play or talk about them in general. It can be big ass triple A titles or simple Flash mini-games.

Ok, now let the actual content of this post begin.

I kinda like army life. So far, mine has been really relaxing. Landed in a well-known welfare company during BMT, went to one of the most relaxing vocation with training of low difficulty and really A LOT of 'off'.

While some complain how Singapore is wasting the time of their youth, I slowly began to realize how smart Singapore is to introduce the NS system. Let me explain to you why:

Army needs more than soldiers. For every soldier, at least 3 support stuff must be behind them doing all the preparation and logistics. Most army hire full-time workers to do that and it is somewhat expensive. What Singapore does however is to let the NSF personal to do it. Things like non-strategic, non-mission-critical security, store and basic maintenance are all done by NSF personal. This does not only allow Singapore to channel those who are actually enthusiastic about army into more important vocations, it saves her a large sum of money. Compared to one full-time stuff who is paid at least 2k per month, NSF's 500 to at most 700 per month pay reduces army spending on salaries by more than half! This is just really smart. Singapore doesn't lack soldiers, Singapore wants to save money so we can spend more in other places.

This made me think. Maybe governments facing financial difficulties will soon do the same: compulsory military service. Just one law and 20-30% miliary spending will just vanish into the thin air. Of course, with an additional bonus as well. All males are military trained means any guy can just pick up a gun and inflict damage. To be completely safe, anyone invading a country like this must kill at least 50-70% of the males. That would be troublesome for any nation's armed forces.

Well, this is just my speculations. But I think I am starting to realize the benefits NS can give.

BUT, that doesn't mean I like to serve the army. I WANT MY PINK IC!
