One word, Expendable. Yea... It is so manly that it makes my balls hurt. All the humongous muscles, explosions, blood, vulgarity, etc. It is not a fantastic movie but hey, if you ever create a panel, ask them to create a movie with as much testosterone as possible, Expandable will be it (and I heard Chuck Norris joined in for the sequel, now there's enough testosterone to burst one's balls).

What is "manhood" exactly? Muscles, destruction, death, war, vulgarity, blah blah blah. And there's the other side, gentle, caring and all the other nice things. While both side seem equally important and relevant to the proving of one's manhood, I believe they are simply ideas we install to typify "man". In essence a man can be made up of qualities from both side or even neither side to truly be a man and the only reason for us to split them is so they could be used to judge others. For example, if I am a muscular man who gyms daily, I would probably directly link physical prowess with manhood. But if I am a bookworm I'll probably link things like gentleness or maybe intelligence with manhood. It is all about what you need. It is just a criteria to judge oneself and others. Isn't it?

It is a great year to be a geek/nerd or whatever you call our species. New games, new technologies, new gadgets, even I can't keep up with the advancement of technology this year. I've been playing them, trying them, testing them and making use of them. Since this isn't a tech review blog, I shall not list them down.

I am enjoying all of them though. The thrill of piloting a giant robot, a hero that kills enemy heroes for some imaginary grand mission, fighting aliens, battling giant monsters, these are all fun experiences that I treasure. I always wonder, if the real world were to be this boring and virtual world this fun. Would the fake one day take over the real because people wish to belong there more and since we created that virtual world, we are infinitely more powerful there. Therefore, we technically survives better there. And evolution should naturally bring us there. Maybe, maybe.

Another thing. I've been pondering over some past dreams too. What do they mean? Do they even mean anything? A memory? A premonition? What are they? Not that it matters much but I want to know. Hahahahaha! I still remember that dream where I saw my future "wife". Looking forward to meeting you, or maybe we've already met.

Not everyone in the world has a fortunate and comfortable life, and it is my duty and the duty of everyone to help them. Of course, it is not about giving money. It is about knowing their story and loving them. I believe that there is nobody who is absolutely bad and can't become good. Hahahaha, and before that part of me dies, I will try my best to help others.

An interesting Japanese restaurant. Its food does not taste particularly great but most if not all of its customers are Japanese. I have to assume that it's at least of some degree of authenticity. Here are the pics, click to enlarge.

Its ambiance is somewhat creepy...

Unagi set. Tastes not bad costing S$20.

Sashimi set. Fish is fresh and wasabi is of nice intensity. S$22

Honestly, I can't fault this restaurant for anything. But there is nothing very special about it either. Or maybe I'm just not touching the special side of it... Hahahahaha! There's always next time.

Also, I just watched the Gurren Lagann movies. People say "might doesn't give right" but awesomeness does definitely give right to almost anything. I am usually someone who is very particular about scientific details in shows but when it comes to this one, I honestly don't care. It is just too awesome. Hahahahahaha!

I have not come back here for a while. The reason is not because I have nothing to write or nothing to say. It is precisely because there is too much to say. I very much looking forward to a trip to Gardens By The Bay. I very much wanting to go see the ice sculptures in Snow City. And many many more. Singapore suddenly seems a lot livelier than before now that I have places that I want to go. Just nobody to go with... -_-... Sigh...

Anyway, I went to JCube to practice focusing on the ice-skaters. Found a way to cheat in bright places (5.6F-8.0F with about 1/500-1/800 shutter speed) so I guess it's time to move on to practice in other more challenging locations. And I'm still not entirely accurate at manual focusing...

And I bought Dominion Intrigue. It is a really fun board game and I won twice against my friend who has more experience than me without trying very hard. Hahahaha! I like winning and it's a good game. Maybe I should try to better myself and play it competitive just for fun? Mmmmm... Though that statement is rather contradicting but maybe I'll try.

Ha... And I find a very strange pattern recently. Everytime I turn hopeless, something would happen to let me regain hope. Of course, good things do happen when I'm hopeful too but it seem to happen much more often when I am hopeless. It is strange. Anyway, I think I am irritating people right now, maybe I should take a step back and quiet down.

Someone is ORDing soon. Well, it's nowhere near a goodbye but it reminded me of how temporary and fragile relationships are. Let's talk about happier things like photographs. I love them. They are like an perfect memory system, no matter how a person changes, that moment and the emotions that come with it remain in the photograph, incorruptible by time, perfectly preserved. The love, the hate, the anger, the sadness, everything. And when I see them, I remember.

Ok, now, 店小二. It's a decent Chinese restaurant. Flavor is not out of this world but better than average. Their signature duck is unique and surprisingly less oily than I expected (you can see how shiny the skin is from the pictures). You should try them. It is a good place to go to if you have a rather large group of friends as you are able to try many dishes at rather reasonable price. However, if you go with only a few people, do expect the bill per person to rise.

Then we went for desert at Loola by Awfully Chocolate. Nice but expensive. First time eating a souffle after watching Doctor Who, excited, then realize souffle is mostly air... Fortunately, there's crab meat at the bottom so everything tasted really nice.

Right! It was a highly productive day. Drove across Singapore to take some shots on sunrise. Helped Julia in her interview. Eat at a new restaurant (Watami) at JCube. Tried the new 4D cinema and received a terrible headache from it. Had lots of fun in general.

Same as always, click to enlarge.

Alright, first of all, the sunrise. Time was short on site so I made the most out of it.

Result was alright but the sky just wasn't red for some reason. I guess there isn't enough clouds.

Then I picked up Julia and head on to Tuas. Tuas is a surprisingly nice place. Open, no trees, hot as hell. But there are huge patches of grass everywhere. The factory backdrop is a little strange though.

Hahahaha! In Singapore, some rules are just down right strange. Like this, no trespassing into nothingness...

After that, it's lunch/dinner, lunchner?

Boost, a strange drink. Some are fruity as hell, others, down right strange... Julia's was fruity, mine was down right strange...

Set meal... Not good...

Best dish in my honest opinion. BBQ squid.

Supposedly cheesy though in honesty fishy tasting (in a good way) omelet. A tad too salty though.

All in all, an enjoyable day out.
